About Us

How We Met:
Nick and I met through a mutual friend when he rented a room from her. Eventually we were introduced through some rock climbing in July 2009. Once we started climbing together and hanging out we went on a few dates and became inseparable.

How He Proposed:
In December 2011 Nick and I went for a weekend trip to NY city the week before Christmas. I had a suspicion Nick was going to propose but only after walking through Tiffany's and him saying we'd look more seriously at rings after we got home did I figure it wasn't going to happen. The next day we got dressed up for our fancy dinner out after sightseeing and headed first to Rockefeller to take photos by the Christmas tree. As we were standing in line for our turn Nick kept pestering me about taking my gloves off for the photo. I kept saying no because it was cold but finally took my gloves off since Nick was convinced it'd look silly. As we were posing for the photographer Nick stopped me from turning, was down on one knee, and asked if I'd marry him. I said yes! The crowd was applauding and I was crying and the photographer was snapping photos until the flash battery died...and then the camera battery died... there was an awkward pause before resuming our photo taking and we headed to dinner. Dinner was amazing! It was probably the fanciest dinner I've ever been to! We ordered champagne and lamb and I emailed my parents saying I'd call shortly.

Once I called my parents to share the news I found out they already knew! Nick had gone over to my parents' house the week or so before to ask for their blessing. This was also the day I called for my normal call to my Mom and she practically hung up on me saying dinner was ready and HAD to go. I was none too pleased that dinner was more important that night but after finding out what was going on, I forgave them :)

Nick's parents and family did not know about the pending proposal so when we drove to GA that next week for Christmas we decided to keep it a secret until they opened up a photo of us by the Rockefeller tree we had printed and framed for them to see if they'd notice my ring. We saved that photo for last and everyone enjoyed the little surprise!
